Survey about the future of NEN9997-1

The NEN is working hard internationally on the finalization of the new Eurocode 7 for geotechnical engineering. Work on the corresponding national annex is also planned from this autumn, to have it ready when the complete set of Eurocodes comes into force in 2026.

Until now, the Eurocode 7 and the national annex have been brought together in the standard NEN9997-1. The question is whether we want to continue to do this in the same way from 2026. Three questions have been formulated from the NEN to gauge the opinion of the geotechnical community:

  • Do we have to bundle the Eurocode and the national annex again (for example in a NEN9997-1) or will a separate Eurocode and national annex suffice?
  • Do you have suggestions for improvements to the content, are there topics that are currently underexposed?
  • Do you have concrete ideas about how we can design a successor to NEN 9997-1? On paper or in a digital form and how?

You can complete the survey online in Google Docs.
If you would like to contribute with any content to the new national annexes, please contact the NEN.
